Jensen Beach occupies a position in Martin County that is hard to explain until you have spent time there. It is not Stuart's historic downtown, not the private-peninsula exclusivity of Sewall's Point, and not a master-planned community. It is a genuine beach town that somehow avoided the overdevelopment that turned most of Florida's coastal communities into either tourist corridors or gated enclaves.
The geography tells most of the story. Jensen Beach straddles the Indian River (the Intracoastal Waterway) on its western side and has direct access to Hutchinson Island and the Atlantic Ocean via the causeway on its eastern side.
