About North River Shores, FL

North River Shores is a community in Martin County, Florida, just southeast of Port St. Lucie on the southeast Atlantic Coast and northeast of Stuart on the southern bank of the St. Lucie River. North River Shores’ name comes from its location on the north shore of the St. Lucie River near its final terminus into the ocean via the St. Lucie Inlet.

The borders of North River Shores are the St. Lucie River to the west and south, Britt Road to the north, and U.S. Highway 1 to the east. North River Shores is connected to downtown Stuart a few minutes south via a set of bridges which cross the St. Lucie River.

The population of North River Shores is a little over 3,000 people, as the area consists mostly of single-family housing. There are also some multi-unit structures, like those within the sub-community of Vista Del Lago, and a stretch of commercial venues along Highway 1.

For the most part, the real estate in North River Shores are beautifully kept and modern bungalows and ranchers.

North River Shores has three subdivisions, including around 400 homes. Other subdivisions are North River Forest and Coconut Park.

Things To Do In North River Shores, Florida

The area around North River Shores is not lacking for local attractions and amenities. For a start, there is the St. Lucie River itself, running by the community to the west and south. Many of the homes in North River Shores are built along canals fed by the river. With private boat docks, these residents can enjoy access to the river waters and beyond.

For golfers, there is the Shores of North River Golf Club, offering an excellent and compact course and practice range.

North River Shores has one small community park at the intersection of Pine Ridge Trail and Lakeside Trail, but that doesn’t mean that residents here aren’t lacking for natural or open spaces to enjoy. The wider area is home to many large preserves, recreation areas, and parks. The most prominent are Savannas Preserve State Park, North Fork St. Lucie River Aquatic Preserve , and Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. These large preserves provide fantastic opportunities for wildlife viewing from the deck of a boat.

For a more conventional and tame park experience, there are community parks nearby like Flagler Park, Stuart Colorado Avenue Park, and Haney Creek Park.

For tennis fans, there are two tennis clubs nearby: North River Shores and Buttonwood Tennis Club.

North River Shores is also a fantastically convenient location for shopping and entertainment. Just north of the community is Treasure Coast Square, a large shopping mall with stores, restaurants, and a theater. And, to the south, is the town of Stuart, with a scenic old town, home to cafes, theaters, and more.

Students in North River Shores can attend Felix A. Williams Elementary and Jensen Beach High School.
